The Lake is approximately 3 hectares (7 acres) and can be dived into a number of areas.
Enclosed in the middle is the serene Ladies Pond, where you can occasionally see kingfishers on overhanging branches, along with some impressive Swamp Cypress tress.
To the north side is the Duck Pond bounded by a paved path and a shelter. Adjacent is the rowing area, overlooked by the lakeside cafe.
The southern part of the lake is where fishing is allowed, apart for the area by the Sub-tropical garden, generally reserved for the wildlife.
The Lake has been a very popular subject with producers of postcards. A selection is shown below.
