“The objects of the Friends shall be for the public benefit to secure the preservation, protection and improvement of Battersea Park as a place of historical and ecological interest, beauty, rest and recreation; to promote the conservation of the natural plant, animal and bird life of the Park, and in particular, its retention as a semi-natural habitat for wild life; and to educate the public in the history, natural history and other aspects of the Park.”
CODE OF GOVERNANCE
The Committee of the Friends of Battersea Park, which has general control and
management of the charity, complies with the following principles:
The Committee collectively ensures delivery of the charity’s objects, sets its strategic direction and upholds its values.
2 COMMITTEE IN CONTROL
Committee members are collectively responsible and accountable for ensuring and monitoring that the charity is performing well, is solvent, and complies with all its obligations.
3 HIGH PERFORMANCE COMMITTEE
The Committee has clear responsibilities and functions and composes and organises itself to discharge them effectively.
4 COMMITTEE REVIEW AND RENEWAL
The Committee periodically reviews its own and the charity’s effectiveness, and takes the necessary steps to ensure that both work well.
5 COMMITTEE DELEGATION
The Committee sets out the function of sub-committees and officers, and monitors their performance.
6 COMMITTEE INTEGRITY
The Committee and its individual members act according to high ethical standards, and ensure that conflicts of interest are properly dealt with.
7 COMMITTEE OPENESS
The Committee is open, responsive and accountable to its beneficiaries, members, partners and others with an interest in its work
